Vice President of Development in Las Vegas, NV

POSITION SUMMARYThe Vice President - Development is charged with oversight, development, maintenance, marketing and organizing of fundraising activities. This includes major donor programs, endowment activities, special events and planned giving programs. Works with the President of the Board of Trustees and the Development Committee as directed to develop strategies to initiate and meet fundraising goals, which may include grants and earned income programs, foundations and other related tools. Oversees community relations/outreach programs. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES-Manages strategies and activities for major donor cultivation, solicitation and relations-Establishes strategies for the development of relationships, outreach and effective communications with corporations, foundations and major donors-Develops & implements annual, short and long-term fund raising, growth objectives and budgets-Oversees preparation and printing of promotional materialsand development of prospective donors-Maintains systemic outreach and communication with major donors through special mailings, relevant communications and informational dispersal, site visits, web page, newsletter and events-Keeps accurate and timely records related to donor programs-Creates and adheres to annual operating & financial goals and objectives for Development Department-Represents agency at community meetings as directedREQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS-Minimum of 5 years successful experience in fundraising/sales and executive leadership experience-A Bachelor?s degree is required. An advanced degree is helpful-Proven track record of results-Experience working with senior level executives-Experience indicating ability to develop personal relationships with individual decision makers that lead to significant institutional investments-Must have a high degree of initiative and positive can-do attitude-Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasively-Demonstrated ability to think strategically-Strong partnership-building and event planning skills-Thorough understanding of all components of a diversified funding base-Effective communication skills and knowledge of data base programs-Experience supervising, motivating and evaluating development staff-Experience in successfully engaging board and other volunteer leaders in fundraising
