1962 Triumph Tr6ss

This like new 1962 Triumph may be one of the nicest in the country. The bike is flawless. It has NO leaks and runs better than new! How can it be better than new you might ask. Here is the answer. The bike has a 5 speed gear cluster hidden in the original 4 speed transmission case. The cluster was made for this bike in England and installed here. This enables it to cruise the freeways at about 3000 rpm at 73mph. The 5th speed is an overdrive, while still retaining the original gearing in the first 4 gears. It also has a Norton clutch and a belt drive hidden in the original primary case. This allows the bike to be super smooth with no vibrations, unlike any stock Triumph from that era. It also has no leaks even after a 200 mile ride. Thats why I think its better than when new. I bought a new one in 1960 so I know. The 1962 model was the last year of the seperate engine and transmission. It also was the last year of the double down tube frame. This bike is a TR6, the exact same as a bonneville except the head only has one carb. The bonneville was only faster at top speed which amounted to about 3 mph according to road tests of the day. All the aluminum is highly polished and the seat is done as original except that it is in real leather rather than the stock vinyl. The tank is jet black with stock emblems. The forks are stock but the front brake is a Triumph twin leading shoe with the traditional air scoop which is from a 1969. The bike stops much better than stock. Both rims are aluminum alloy with stainless spokes. The engine was completely rebuilt by South Bay Triumph in Southern California.
